Coal from the mine was transported to Seattle on the Pacific Coast Coal Train. Oddly enough, the town is still home to just about 3,500 people, the same relative number that lived there during the days of coal mining. However, this area is beginning to see some growth, as Seattle and Bellevue commuters begin to make this ideally located town their home.
