Wilkeson | Carbonado Homes for Sale and Real Estate Listings
The Wilkeson/Carbonado area was officially incorporated into Pierce County in July of 1909. Home to just under 400 people, this small town was named after the Wilkeson family, who invested heavily in the local industries developed in this forested area. In 1876, four large coal veins were discovered in the Carbonado area at the base of the Cascade Foothills. This led to the production of coal coking ovens, which the area soon become known for. In addition, the natural sandstone formations found in this region were the source of material for facing the new capitol building in Olympia. Wilkeson/ Carbonado is also home to a gorgeous forest setting, with several trails and beautiful scenery drawing residents from nearby towns to search and explore this natural area. On top of all that, real estate in Wilkeson and Carbonado is an affordable option for most potential home buyers.
